Meghan Markle was married and divorced before meeting Prince Harry in 2016, but who was her first husband and what is her ex-husband doing now?

Prince Harry and Meghan, who met in 2016, married in a lavish wedding in Windsor in front of millions of people in 2018, and they now have two children together, but it wasn’t the first time Meghan said “I do.”

Her relationship with film producer Trevor Engelson was far less dramatic than the turmoil that is presently unfolding.

Before marrying Prince Harry three years ago, Meghan Markle established a name for herself as an actress, activist, and writer. She was best recognized for her role in the iconic US television program Suits as Rachel Zane, a paralegal who subsequently became a prosecutor. When she became a member of the Royal Family, she gave up her acting profession and immersed herself in the lifestyle of working royalty.

Meghan and Trevor met in 2006 and dated for six years before proposing in 2010.

They married in 2011 at the Jamaica Inn in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

Meghan reportedly wore a strapless white dress with a silver jewelled belt to the extravagant four-day event with family and friends.

Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is said to have attended the ceremony, but it is unclear if her father, Thomas, was also there.

Engelson, 44, was born in 1976 in Great Neck, Long Island, New York.

He has been in the entertainment industry for decades and is most known for his work on the romantic 9/11 drama Remember Me, starring Robert Pattinson, as well as the Heathers TV series, movie Deep Blue Sea, and License to Wed, starring Robin Williams.

Before meeting Meghan, he attended the University of Southern California’s School of Communications.

The marriage lasted barely two years. The couple divorced due to “irreconcilable differences.” According to some sources, Markle’s position on Suits, which was filmed in Toronto while Engelson worked in Los Angeles, was to blame for the couple’s inability to maintain a long-distance relationship.

According to a source, Engelson suffered with the breakup of his relationship. “The split with Meghan hit Trevor pretty hard. He went through a rough time during the break-up and that was only made worse when Meghan got together with Harry last year. He had to re-live it all again — this time in public. It wasn’t the most amicable of divorces and there were hurt feelings on both sides. Now he has bounced back and things are looking great for him.”
