A “well placed” source reveals the Sussexes were matched by Violet von Westenholz.

Violet, whose father is a baron and excellent friends with Prince Charles, was revealed by E! News to be a close childhood friend of Prince Harry.

She’s the finest friend anybody could want—the mysterious matchmaker who matched Meghan Markle up on the ultimate blind date with a real-life royal, and she’s been a long-time member of Harry’s trusted inner circle of pals.

The dazzling pair sat down for a joint interview with the BBC in November, on the day their engagement was announced, and were asked how they met.  Meghan and Harry said that they had been introduced by a mutual friend—but just as Harry was about to reveal the friend’s identity, Meghan stopped him off and stated they would attempt to keep “her” privacy.

“Harry was having a really hard time finding anyone. It’s hard enough finding someone new to date. He can hardly go on Tinder or a dating app like normal people, but to meet someone that you actually connect with, that was proving to be almost impossible,” the source told E!.

“It was something he had confided in his closest friends about; he was ready to meet someone but it was so hard to actually find the right person.”

Violet had become a confidante for Harry when it came to issues of the heart.

Victoria von Westenholz, Violet’s younger sister, was previously rumored to be a prospective partner for Harry among London’s society elite.

Von Westenholz met Markle through her employment at Ralph Lauren in London, where she works in public relations, and the two became friends. “Meghan had been a part of the London social scene for a while and had slotted into the high society set really easily. And so when Harry told Violet he was having trouble finding someone, Violet said she might just have the perfect girl for him,” the source adds.

Meghan described their first date in early summer 2016 in the couple’s engagement interview. “It was definitely a set-up. It was a blind date. I didn’t know much about him and so the only thing I had asked her when she said she wanted to set us up was, I had one question, I said ‘Was he nice?'”
