Following Prince Philip’s death, Prince William and Kate Middleton said they were “incredibly moved” by the outpouring of support from the people.

Prince William and Kate Middleton wrote in a thank you card to well-wishers who expressed condolences following Prince Philip’s death this spring that the late royal is missed by everyone in their family, including their three children, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 3.

Earlier this week, the Instagram account Miss Royal Reply posted a photo of the message the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge issued in response to individuals who expressed sympathy. The written message, which came with a portrait of Prince Philip, reads:

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge thank you for your kind words following the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. Their Royal Highnesses have been incredibly moved by the many thoughtful messages they have received in recent weeks.

“They will all miss their much loved grandfather and great-grandfather, but your message has provided great comfort at this difficult time.”

The card included a photo of a happy Philip in his military uniform.

On April 12, Prince William shared a photo of his seven-year-old son, Prince George, sitting beside Prince Philip in a carriage.

William explained his bond with his grandfather and how he would remember how he treated his children in the caption.

“I will never take for granted the special memories my children will always have of their great-grandpa coming to collect them in his carriage and seeing for themselves his infectious sense of adventure as well as his mischievous sense of humour!” he wrote.

“My grandfather was an extraordinary man and part of an extraordinary generation.

“Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support The Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job.”

Prince William and Kate also released a new photo from 2015 with the Queen, Prince Philip, and their two eldest children. The photograph, which was shot at Balmoral Castle, shows a young Prince George holding hands with his father, while a tiny Princess Charlotte takes a glimpse at her great-grandparents, with the Queen beaming back.

In the other photograph, The Queen and Prince Philip are surrounded by their great-grandchildren, all of whom were there at the moment (later to join would be Prince Harry’s son Archie, Zara Tindall’s son Lucas, and Princess Eugenie’s first son, August).

“Today we share, along with members of The Royal Family, photographs of the Duke of Edinburgh as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather,” the caption stated.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Britain’s longest-serving royal consort, died on April 9 at the age of 99.
