Meghan Markle and Prince Harry now have two children!

Meghan gave birth to her daughter at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Friday, June 4th, at 11:40 a.m.

Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-windsor, Harry and Meghan’s daughter, was named after the family nickname for the Queen, the baby’s great-grandmother. According to the couple, her second name was selected to honor her late grandma Diana, Princess of Wales. The infant is Queen Elizabeth’s 11th great-grandchild and the eighth in line to the throne.

“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” the statement stated.

“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital,” the statement read, adding that the new arrival weighed 7 pounds, 11 ounces (3.49 kilograms) and that “both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home.”

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales,” the statement added.

“This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”

Meghan and Harry, 36, chose the name as a transparent attempt to rebuild family connections after a tumultuous few months following their shock interview with Oprah Winfrey and their departure from the royal family.

The birth of the newborn girl was announced in a statement published by Buckingham Palace on Sunday.

“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex,” the statement said.

Prince William, Harry’s older brother, also named his now 6-year-old daughter Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in honor of their late mother and the Queen.

Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy on Valentine’s Day, saying, “We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

During their bombshell tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, Harry and Meghan disclosed they were having a daughter.

They also opened out about their feud with the rest of the royal family throughout the interview. Meghan said that the family had expressed worries about Archie’s skin color before his birth, and that the palace failed to assist her when she was suicidal.

She is eighth in line to the throne after her grandpa Charles, uncle William, and his three children (George, Charlotte, and Louis), her father Harry, and big brother Archie.
