The announcement that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were expecting their second child this summer was one of the few good disclosures from their dramatic tell-all interview with Oprah earlier this year.

Last week, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor into the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex published a personal message through their charity website, Archewell, in addition to their official statement announcing Lilibet’s arrival. “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family,” they wrote.

Instead of sending gifts, the couple requested that well-wishers make a donation to a women’s charity.

“For those inquiring on sending gifts, we would ask that you support or learn more about these organizations working for women and girls,” they said before attaching links to Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED, and the Myna Mahila Foundation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to give back to the community while the welcome with their newest family member.

Whether it’s assisting pregnant women who are homeless or raising funds for improved educational opportunities for women, the organizations featured are all devoted to helping women across the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex frequently use landmarks in their family to promote charitable causes. Meghan, 39, and Prince Harry, 36, contributed 200 beanies to the I Got Your Back Pack (IGYBP) program as a present in celebration of their son Archie’s second birthday, as per the New Zealand-based social business Make Give Live.

The notice went on to say: “While the Duke and Duchess are on parental leave, Archewell will continue to do important work and publish stories on the site. We look forward to seeing you!”

After resigning from their official posts, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle founded Archewell. The organization was founded with the goal of “uplifting and uniting communities—local and global, online and offline—one act of compassion at a time.” Archewell collaborated with the World Center Kitchen throughout the last year to serve meals to individuals affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

While Lili came on Friday, the couple waited two days before announcing the news to the world via a spokeswoman.

In the official statement, Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stated, “It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world.”

“Lili was born on Friday, June 4 at 11:40 a.m. in the trusted care of the doctors and staff at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” the statement continued. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

“This is the second child for the couple, who also have a two-year-old son named Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”
