Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made headlines when they announced the birth of their baby daughter.

Meghan Markle gave birth to her daughter Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in California on June 4, naming her after the queen and Prince Harry’s late mother.

Kate and William were “informed about the birth and have sent Lilibet a gift,” according to a source at US Weekly.

It’s unclear what they’re gave as a gift.

Kate and Wills also congratulated the couple on Instagram, saying, “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili. Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”

The Archewell website posted an official announcement alongside a letter from Harry and Meghan, saying: “On June 4, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.”

“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

In February, Meghan and Harry revealed that they were expecting their second child. Buckingham Palace had just announced that the Montecito, California residents would not be returning to their duties as senior members of the royal family.

What next?

“I’m told that they’re both going to take leave after the birth of the baby, which actually neither of them really did last time around and really take some time for once to have a bit of the summer off,” royal analyst Katie Nicholl recently told 9Honey.

While Nicholl says the pair is looking forward to spending time with their children, they are also eager to return to work.

“If you look at them, they both want to just get on with what Archewell started,” Nicholl remarked.

“Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet,” Harry and Meghan said while announcing their daughter’s name.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
