After nearly ten years of marriage, Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green have called it quits.

According to Hollywood Reporter, on the current edition of his podcast “…With Brian Austin Green” the 46-year-old actor acknowledged that he and Fox, 33, are “trying to sort of be apart”.

He said that they were estranged at the end of last year when Fox was overseas filming a movie.

“She said, ”I realised when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself, and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me”,” Green remembered of his talk with Fox after she returned from the project.

Green claimed that in the fall of last year, Fox left him and his children to film a film for five weeks, during which time he dreamed they split up.

However, he claims that once she returned, they began to act “almost exactly” as they had in his dream. “But, I gave her a few weeks, I figured you know, she’s been out of the country, she’s jet-lagged, she’s been shooting nights, I have to give her some time to recoup a little bit and get back into life. And, so, I did.”

“About three weeks into her being gone and shooting, I had a dream, which most people dream, but I don’t ever remember my dreams… but, I had this dream that she came back from work, and that we were distant, that things were off, that things were weird.”

They agreed to “take some space” after that unpleasant chat to figure out what their future might hold.

But, as the weeks passed, “reality started sinking in” and they concluded they’d rather stop things sooner than than later to avoid a possibly “volatile situation,” as they’d seen with previous couples.

“I wanted it coming from my mouth. I wanted people to hear everything from me and then this is it,” he says. “I don’t want to have to talk about this anymore.” Brian goes on to say that Megan feels the same way, as does her reported boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly, whom Brian refers to by his given name Colson.

Green went on to stress that adjusting to the change is difficult, and he doesn”t want them to “be at odds”:

“She”s been my best friend for 15 years and I don”t want to lose that,” said an emotional Green.

He continued: “There”s this sense of loss of, ”How do I go on with this big part of my life that I”ve always known and loved and shared changing?” What does that landscape look like? What does that life look like? … Megan and I talked a lot about it, and it”s a big concern for both of us.”

“There’s no reason for it to be (that way) with us. Neither one of us did anything to each other; she’s always been honest with me and I’ve always been honest with her,” he explained. “And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family, what we have built is really cool and really special. So we decided let’s make sure we don’t lose that. That no matter what, we’re always friends with each other and we’re a united front with the kids.”

Finally, the Green claims he’s stepping up because he doesn’t want Megan or Colson to be “vilified” in this scenario. “I don’t want this guy Colson, who I have never met, who she said nothing but really kind things about, I don’t want him to be vilified because nobody did anything wrong. It’s not like we are separating or anything because somebody cheated or somebody hurt somebody,” he insists. “I feel like people are on paths in life sometimes and you’re on the same path, and you walk that path together, and things are working and then paths just kind of separate sometimes.

They determined that for the sake of their family—Green and Fox are parents to Noah Shannon, 7, Bodhi Ransom, 6, and Journey River, 3–they would always be “friends” and “a united front with the kids” even as they strive to “figure out what life is now.”
