The long-awaited mental health docuseries starring Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey is officially on its way. The Me You Can’t See will premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 21, after being postponed due to the pandemic and Prince Harry’s resignation as a senior royal family member.

The show will feature the duo in dialogue with a variety of celebrities, leading “honest discussions about mental health and emotional wellbeing”

“Now more than ever, there is an immediate need to replace the shame surrounding mental health with wisdom, compassion, and honesty,” Winfrey said in a statement. “Our series aims to spark that global conversation.”

In addition to Lady Gaga and Glenn Close, NBA players DeMar DeRozan and Langston Galloway, as well as Olympic boxer Virginia Wade, will take part “Chef Rashad Armstead and Ginny” Fuchs.

Prince Harry said ahead of the series’ premiere: “We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences.

“But our shared experience is that we are all human.

“The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss, or grief, which feels – and is – very personal. Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together, and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty.”

The Duke of Sussex and Winfrey co-created the feature, which they have been working on for the past two years.

Prince Harry has spoken out about his mental health struggles, acknowledging that he has suffered after his mum, Princess Diana, died in 1997.

The Me You Can’t See is a different collaboration from Meghan and Harry’s multiyear distribution contract with Netflix, which they signed in September. Heart of Invictus, a docuseries focused on the Invictus Games, an athletic festival for disabled, injured, or ill military members created by Harry, will set off the entire thing. Archewell Productions, a division of Meghan and Harry’s ever-expanding nonprofit Archewell, will produce the film. Meanwhile, Prince Harry gets to add yet another career description to his ever-expanding resume.

Prince Harry’s mental health-themed exhibition was first revealed in April 2019.

At the time, the Duke of Sussex said about the series: “I truly believe that good mental health – mental fitness – is the key to powerful leadership, productive communities and a purpose-driven self.

“It is a huge responsibility to get this right as we bring you the facts, the science and the awareness of a subject that is so relevant during these times.

“Our hope is that this series will be positive, enlightening and inclusive – sharing global stories of unparalleled human spirit fighting back from the darkest places, and the opportunity for us to understand ourselves and those around us better.

“I am incredibly proud to be working alongside Oprah on this vital series.”

The Me You Can’t See is a five-part series focused on a dialogue between Harry and Winfrey about mental health, with celebrity sufferers joining them to discuss their own experiences with mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, OCD, PTSD, and unresolved trauma.

The Me You Can’t See is executive produced by Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, which has reportedly collaborated with 14 accredited and respected experts and organizations from around the world to help explore alternative recovery options. Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, California Surgeon General, Dr. Vikram Patel, Co-Founder of Sangath and Professor of Global Health at Harvard Medical School, and Shaun Robinson, Chief Executive of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand
