According to a friend, Meghan Markle may choose a swanky £2,800-per-night Californian maternity suite when she gives birth to her daughter.

Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, and Victoria Beckham have all used it before.

The Duchess of Sussex is expecting a baby girl in the coming months, and close friend Omid Scobie believes the former actress will give birth at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

On last night’s Channel 4 documentary A Very Royal Baby: From Cradle to Crown, Omid, author of the explosive biography Finding Freedom, said: “There is a lot of speculation about where Harry and Meghan’s daughter might be born.”

“Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles has some of the finest maternity suites in the country.”

From welcome packs containing nappies – and wine – to gourmet dining and ‘secret tunnels,’ the opulent 24-acre complex is fit for royalty.

Birthing suites at the Beverly Boulevard location, which is right next to Los Angeles’ affluent Beverly Hills neighborhood, have three bedrooms and two luxury bathrooms.

A night in the deluxe maternity suites, which look like five-star hotel rooms, costs £2,800.

If the couple chose to have their second child here, they would be following in the footsteps of celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Victoria Beckham.

North West, Kim and Kanye West’s daughter, was born there in 2013, Harper Beckham in 2011, and Beyonce’s twins, Rumi and Sir, in 2017.

New mothers can relax in front of flat-screen TVs and take advantage of salon services such as haircuts, manicures, and pedicures.

The suites include a patient room and a sitting room, as well as a luxury en suite, bath robes, recessed lighting, and hardwood floors.

Meghan would have access to a personal doula 24 hours a day, seven days a week, who would provide “physical, emotional, and educational support.”

Mums also receive welcome packs with a miniature bottle of wine and nappies, and gourmet cuisine is served during stays.

Both parents are provided with three deluxe meals per day, with vegetarian and vegan options available.

No request is too obscure, from steaks and strawberries to organic and kosher food. There’s also wine on hand for the parents and entourage to toast the new arrival.

Celia Walden, a journalist, wrote in the Telegraph about being able to “gaze at the Hollywood sign” while giving birth to her daughter in 2011.

Celia claimed that an anesthesiologist told her about her natural birth plans, saying, “Honey, in LA, a natural birth means giving birth without your make-up on.”

High-profile celebrities usually park around the back, near the doctors, before sneaking in through the back door.

One long-held belief is that tunnels run beneath the hospital to allow celebrities to move around without being seen.

Meghan and Harry announced they were expecting their second child on Valentine’s Day this year, and confirmed the gender during their shocking Oprah Winfrey interview.

If their daughter is born on American soil, she will be granted American citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment.

On May 6, 2019, Meghan gave birth to the couple’s first child, Archie, at The Portland Hospital in London.
