Kim Kardashian has confessed that she failed the first-year law student exam, which would have allowed her to continue her legal studies.

In a clip from the series’ forthcoming Thursday, May 27, episode, the SKIMS owner, 40, informed her sisters Khloé Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian, “So you guys, I did not pass the baby bar.”

In a confessional, she says that the framework of her path to the bar test differs from that of a typical law student. “If you are doing law school the way I’m doing it, it is a four-year program instead of your typical three-year program,” Kim explains. “And after year one, you have to take the baby bar. This would actually harder, I hear, than the official bar.”

In a candid interview with Vogue magazine in 2019, Kim stated that she was studying to be a lawyer. She stated she was in the first year of a four-year apprenticeship and planned to sit for the California baby bar test the following summer.

That does not appear to have gone as smoothly as she had intended.

The teaser then cut to a flashback to Kardashian’s mentor, attorney Jessica Jackson, informing her that she “needed a 560” on the exam but only got a 474, with Jackson adding, “That is extremely close on a test that most people are not taking in the middle of a pandemic.”

Despite nearly passing the exam, Kardashian said that she felt like a “failure,” recalling how she spent six weeks preparing for the exam for 10 to 12 hours a day.

“It was so important for me to take this, and to not pass gets your spirit down and makes you want to give up,” she said, before telling her sisters that the part that upsets her the most about the situation is all the time she spent away from her and Kanye West’s children studying.

“I spent, like, six weeks straight, 10 to 12 hours a day studying, and it was so important for me to take this. To not pass gets your spirit down and makes you want to give up,” she said.

Kim met Jackson through CNN anchor Van Jones, who raved over how well she was doing in her academics. “I think she’s going to be an unbelievable attorney. She’s already I think one of the best advocates that we have in criminal justice,” Jones said on the Ellen Degeneres Show.

Kim originally revealed that she was preparing for the year law student test on Instagram in April 2019. “I’ve seen some comments from people who are saying it’s my privilege or my money that got me here, but that’s not the case… The state bar doesn’t care who you are,” Kim captioned. “My weekends are spent away from my kids while I read and study. I work all day, put my kids to bed and spend my nights studying. There are times I feel overwhelmed and when I feel like I can’t do it but I get the pep talks I need from the people around me supporting me… It’s never too late to follow your dreams.”

Kourtney consoles her, assuring her that their late father would be proud of her anyway. Khloe agrees, stating “it’s highly respectable what you’re doing” given “the time that you’re taken away from your family, your kids…”

“That’s what p*sses me off,” mother of four Kim cuts in. “The fact that I spent all that time away from my kids, like I can’t do it again. I don’t have time. To do the next test is in November. And I’m filming the ending of our show, which will be so emotional. I have every birthday under the sun, you know, it’s my birthday, my 40th, I planned this whole trip and it’s too late to cancel. And if I fail again, then it’s like, what was the point?”

Kim’s follow-up exam should be scheduled in June 2021, the next sitting after November, as per Khloe. Kim responds, “I don’t want to wait another year for school.” “I feel like I just got to the end where I almost knew everything.”

Kourtney told her sister, “I feel like dad would be really proud of you regardless, just the fact that you’re pursuing this,” alluding to their late father, attorney Robert Kardashian Sr.

While Khloé, 36, acknowledged that what Kim is doing is “highly respectable,” she also mentioned how difficult it has been for her to see her sister lose out on time with her friends and family.
