Jennifer Lopez’s breakup from Alex Rodriguez has prompted her to rethink the qualities she wants in her future companion.

According to a source, their engagement was doomed owing to trust concerns.

After four years of dating, the former couple announced their breakup in a joint statement earlier this month.

After parting from ARod over suspicions he cheated on her with Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy, Jennifer Lopez is looking for a partner she can “trust.”

“J. Lo was always aware of the rumors of him cheating or him messaging other girls. You can say that for sure [that] played a part in why the engagement ended,” the source says.

“She wants someone who’s fully invested in her and someone she can trust when her partner is not around.”

The pair originally denied rumors that their relationship was on the rocks at the beginning of the month, claiming that Alex’s friendship with Madison LeCroy was to blame.

However, they soon confirmed that their romance was finished in a statement to the Today Show.

“We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so,” it said.

“We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.

“We wish the best for each other and one another’s children.

“Out of respect for them, the only other comment we have to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”

Rodriguez is the father of daughters Natasha, 16, and Ella, 13, whom he shares with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis. Lopez has 13-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony. According to a source, their split was delayed by their blended family.

“A-Rod’s girls and J. Lo’s kids are really close, so the reason why they stayed together for as long as they did was to make their kids happy,” the source said. “They still have love for each other that I think will never go away.”

It comes after a source close to Jennifer revealed that the genetically fortunate couple’s relationship ended because of “unresolved” difficulties, and that the age-defying beauty was unable to completely “trust” Alex.

Jennifer placed the last nail in the coffin when she insisted on making the news public.

According to PEOPLE, a source said: “She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved.”

Another insider informed the US outlet that the pandemic hampered the couple’s ability to “keep that special spark when they saw each other every day,” as they battled to “keep that special spark when they saw each other every day.”

Jennifer, sadly, didn’t totally “trust” Alex, 45, even before accusations that he had cheated on her with Southern Charm’s Madison LeCroy began to circulate.

“She has been pretty miserable,” said the friend, adding “and didn’t think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex.”
