Chelsy Davy, Prince Harry’s ex-girlfriend, recently opened out about their relationship and made some surprising revelations! The couple had been dating on and off since 2004, when they met as teenagers. However, Chelsy instigated the breakup after realizing that the royal life was not for her.

The pair, who dated on and off for seven years, had a “turbulent” relationship.

The Zimbabwean-born entrepreneur, who began dating Harry while a boarder at Stowe School, told The Times about her difficulties during the romance.

In 2016, she stated, “Yes it was tough. It was so full-on: crazy scary and uncomfortable.

“I found it very difficult when it was bad. I couldn’t cope. I was young, I was trying to be a normal kid and it was horrible.”

The media aggressively covered the relationship, and in his Apple TV+ series on mental health with Oprah Winfrey titled The Me You Can’t See, Harry spoke up about his fear while being questioned by reporters while doing royal responsibilities.

He said: “Before I even left the house, I was sweating, I was in fight or flight mode. Panic attacks, severe anxiety. 28 to 32 was a nightmare for me. I was freaking out every single time I got in a car and every single time I saw a camera.”

He added: “Everywhere I go, every time I meet someone, it’s almost like I’m being drained of this energy, picking up on somebody else’s emotion.”

Chelsy was regularly questioned about her relationship with Harry, and she was balancing a profession in law at the time, which she found tiring with “back-to-back deals, working till 4am, conference calls at eight,” she told the Daily Express at the time.

Harry was also conscious of the press’s impact on his relationship.

“I can see how upset she gets,” he said.

“My girlfriend is somebody who’s very special to me, and yes, she’s gone through some very hard times.”

When she did have time to socialize with friends, pictures of her at nightclubs wound up in the press, and this, combined with the stress of dating a prince, led to the relationship collapsing.

Chelsy remains close to Prince Harry and attended his wedding to Meghan Markle.

In her memoir ‘Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,’ Katie Nicholl stated that the wedding “made Chelsy’s mind up once and for all.”

“The life of a royal bride was not for her, and she told Harry she could never make the sacrifices Kate had made,” she continued.
