The Queen and Prince William were apparently concerned enough about Meghan Markle’s “behavior and attitude” to approve a ban on Meghan borrowing tiaras and jewels from the Royal Collection.
Royal personnel were said to have expressed their “reservations about some of Meghan’s behaviour” to the Duke of Cambridge. And William is said to have supported the Queen’s move to prohibit the Duchess of Sussex from borrowing the jewelry.
Items from William and Prince Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, are included in the Royal Collection.
Royal expert Dan Wootton claimed in the Daily Mail that William had reservations regarding Harry and Markle’s relationship from the start.
Following the widely publicized “tiaragate” event in the run-up to Harry and Meghan’s wedding in May 2018, Wootton alleged the Queen cautioned Harry about Meghan’s “behavior and attitude.”
When the bride was informed she wouldn’t be allowed to wear her preferred headpiece, Harry is said to have yelled at workers, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.”
Following a squabble about the bride’s tiara, the Queen warned Prince Harry about Meghan Markle’s behavior and temperament before their wedding.
The monarch’s exceptional interference came during heated talks about Meghan’s outfit.
According to royal accounts, she requested an emerald-set tiara at first. The future Duke and Duchess of Sussex were disappointed to learn that her first preference was unlikely because no one understood where it originated from.
Meghan finally wore the Queen Mary diamond bandeau tiara as her wedding tiara.
The Sussexes have relocated to America since resigning from royal duties in March 2020, a move called Megxit.
William advised Harry about Meghan before they wed, according to royal biographers Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand in their book Finding Freedom.
