Meghan Markle appears in Prince Harry’s new mental health series

In the trailer for Prince Harry’s upcoming mental health television film, The Me You Can’t See, Meghan Markle makes brief cameos.

Meghan is dressed smartly in a white T-shirt with the message “Raising the Future” which she is wearing with a pair of black pants.

In what seems to be a video presentation from their Montecito home, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are seen infront of a computer. Meghan is standing over her husband, waving at the camera.

The couple, who parted ways from their royal duties last year to pursue a new life in California, both smile at the camera.

Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey encouraged fans to get treatment if they are suffering from mental illness. The trailer also included brief appearances from singer Lady Gaga and actress Glenn Close.

“To make that decision to receive help is not a sign of weakness,” Harry said Monday in the first official trailer for “The Me You Don’t See,” due Friday on Apple+. “In today’s world, more than ever, it is a sign of strength. … The results of this year will be felt for decades. The kids, families, husbands, wives, everybody.”

The duchess is later seen smiling and holding Archie, the couple’s two-year-old boy, in a blue denim top.

Interviews with high-profile personalities such as Lady Gaga, DeMar DeRozan, and Glenn Close will be included in the new series, which is executive produced by Harry and Oprah Winfrey.

A clip of a young Harry during the funeral procession of his late mum, Princess Diana, is also included.

“All over the world people are in some kind of mental, psychological, emotional pain,” Winfrey tells Harry in the 2.36-minute trailer.

He replies: “What words have you heard around mental health? Crazy?”

Winfrey adds: “Lost it, can’t keep it together.

“With that stigma of being labelled the other, the telling of a story, being able to say it, this is what happened to me, is crucial.”

“To make that decision to receive help is not a sign of weakness,” Harry tells the US talk show host.

“In today’s world more than ever, it is a sign of strength.”

“The results of this year will be felt for decades. The kids, families, husbands, wives, everybody,” the Duke adds later.

Prince Harry, who now resides in California with Meghan and their son Archie, has long advocated for mental health awareness and the elimination of stereotypes surrounding mental illness. The series will feature Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey leading talks about mental health and wellbeing with a host of notable guests, including athletes DeMar DeRozan and Langston Galloway, as well as people from all around the world. According to the Apple TV+ announcement, the couple will also talk about their own mental health challenges and journeys.

Lady Gaga (introduced by her given first name, Stefani) and Close are both seen tearing up while speaking on camera in the new trailer.

“I think it’s our natural state to be connected,” Close said, as a shot flashed of a smiling Harry and wife Meghan looking at a computer screen.

“With storytelling at its core, this timely series gives a voice to stories that aim to seek truth, understanding and compassion. It’s about people, our experiences, and why we feel the way that we do,” the official description reads.

Meghan and Harry have both spoken out about their mental health issues in the past.

“We are born into different lives, brought up in different environments, and as a result are exposed to different experiences,” Harry said in a statement released last week to mark the launch.

“But our shared experience is that we are all human.

“The majority of us carry some form of unresolved trauma, loss or grief, which feels, and is, very personal.

“Yet the last year has shown us that we are all in this together, and my hope is that this series will show there is power in vulnerability, connection in empathy, and strength in honesty.”

When Prince Harry and Meghan were both serving as senior royals in the United Kingdom, the then-unnamed docuseries was first announced on the SussexRoyal Instagram account in 2019. The show was supposed to premiere in 2020, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, shooting and eventual release were postponed.

Winfrey’s continuing attempts to encourage wellness are bolstered by the latest series. She addressed vulnerability and resiliency in a simulated sequence for WW (formerly Weight Watchers). She went on a nine-city tour last year, shortly before the coronavirus pandemic, giving a full day of wellness discussions.
