As they begin their post-palace careers in the United States, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have recruited a new public relations firm.

Christine Schirmer, the former head of communications at Pinterest and former corporate communications manager at Apple, has been recruited by the royal couple for their future venture’s PR team, according to People. T he Sussexes have also recruited Toya Holness, the former communications director at the New York City Department of Education, as their new press secretary.

PR Week was the first to report on the hire.

The Sussexes’ new employees will work with Sunshine Sachs, the couple’s public relations firm, and James Holy, the couple’s communications director in the United Kingdom. According to People, Holt, Schirmer, and Holness would “oversee the communications strategy for Archewell, future production projects and other personal ventures,”

Christine was Pinterest’s head of communications from 2017 until she departed the firm in July, and she was installed in the newly established leadership position.

Following their historic decision to stand down as senior working members of the royal family, the Sussexes revealed their intentions to start Archewell in April. They moved across the Atlantic to Meghan’s home state of California a few months later.

Archewell, named after their son Archie Mountbatten-Windsor, will be the hub for the couple’s philanthropic endeavors, with an emphasis on what they call “humane tech.”

Ms Schirmer was formerly the director of corporate communications at Deluxe, a video production and distribution business, while Ms Holness was previously the director of corporate communications at Pinterest.

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex departed the UK, Sara Latham, the couple’s former director of communications who had worked for Hillary Clinton, went to the Queen’s private office. Despite the fact that Harry and Meghan no longer have a staff located at Buckingham Palace, they have retained James Holt as their UK communications director. Holt had a successful career in political public relations before joining The Royal Foundation as Senior Communications Officer, where he now solely looks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The two new employees’ digital credentials may indicate the emphasis of the Sussexes’ efforts to create content for Netflix and launch their new charity organization, Archewell, named after son Archie.

There were allegedly layoffs in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s office after they announced their intentions to leave the UK. They held a lunch for their departing employees at the renowned Goring hotel, only a short walk from Buckingham Palace.
