According to reports, George and Amal Clooney admitted they didn’t know the Duke and Duchess of Sussex until just before the royal wedding.

George Clooney and his human rights lawyer wife were among the hand-picked celebrity guests who were invited to Windsor Castle in May 2018 to witness the happy couple tie the knot.

However, it is said that the renowned couple admitted to not knowing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

The Clooneys were allocated a ‘prime pew’ next to Lady Carolyn Warren, who is married to John Warren, the Queen’s bloodstock adviser, and opposite Princess Margaret’s son Viscount Linley, as an indication of their seeming closeness to the couple.

They told other guests, however, that they were not close pals with the royals, according to Rachel Johnson.

Princess Diana’s old flatmate allegedly asked George and Amal how they knew the royal newlyweds before the wedding, according to the journalist and author.

She wrote: “There’s a story doing the rounds that while Carolyn Bartholomew, Diana’s former flatmate, was waiting for the wedding service to start, she turned to the couple alongside her and asked how they knew Harry or Meghan.

“’We don’t,’ the Clooneys answered brightly.”

Carolyn, who attended the wedding with husband William, is Harry’s godmother.

Rachel further stated that Oprah Winfrey, David and Victoria Beckham, and James Corden, among the other prominent guests at the wedding, “could not possibly be old and dear friends of the bridal couple”

Serena Williams and her husband Alexis Ohanian were among the other well-known guests at the wedding.

When George and Amal arrived for the royal wedding, they made a splash as members of the privileged 200-strong guest list invited to celebrate the night away at Frogmore House. Both Meghan and Kate Middleton, 39, are said to have danced with George.

Even if the Clooneys didn’t know the pair at the time, according to Finding Freedom, they’ve become close since then and have entertained the Duke and Duchess at their Oxfordshire property on at least two occasions.

Meghan and Harry are said to be bringing their dogs along, while George and Amal are said to be taking their guests out to the lake.

At August 2018, the Sussexes rushed off to join the A-list stars in their Italian villa, where they also ran across Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, according to the explosive book.

“Meghan and Amal spent a lot of time relaxing by the pool and playing with the twins while George and Harry checked out George’s motorbike collection,” a source said of the three-day visit. “Harry took one of them out with one of his protection officers.”
