After months of deliberation, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen to relinquish their royal family duties this year.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Harry and Meghan have been spotted volunteering on a regular basis, but they have also registered with a public speaking agency and worked on building their Archewell foundation.

It was just reported that she will be collaborating with none other than Michelle Obama for the Girl Up Global Leadership Summit on gender equality (13 to 15 July).

Meghan Markle has confirmed that she will speak at the Girl Up Global Leadership Summit, a three-day event focusing on gender equality and empowering young women to be the force that brings about change. This is a major effort, with the program working with 65,000 girls across the United States, and one of the Duchess’s first public speaking engagements since relinquishing her senior royal title.

The Duchess of Sussex, who has long been open about her desire to aid in the advancement of equality, will join Michelle and actress Priyanka Chopra Jones as a guest speaker for the three-day virtual event.

During her Suits tenure, Meghan also made a stunning address at the United Nations Women’s Conference in 2015, in which she referenced the aforementioned TV ad that ignited her interest in leveling the playing field.

“When I was just eleven years old, I unknowingly and somehow accidentally became a female advocate… I had been in school watching a TV show in elementary school, and this commercial came on with the tagline for this dishwashing liquid and the tagline said, ‘Women all over America are fighting greasy pots and pans.’ Two boys from my class said, ‘Yeah, that’s where women belong, in the kitchen.’,” she explained.

“It is said that girls with dreams become women with vision. May we empower each other to carry out such vision – because it isn’t enough to simply talk about equality. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to simply believe in it. One must work at it. Let us work at it. Together. Starting now.”

According to court documents obtained by The Independent, the Duchess of Sussex felt “unprotected by the institution” of the monarchy when “false” media allegations surfaced when she was pregnant.

Meghan and Harry now work for themselves rather than the royal family, having relinquished their senior royal titles. Losing their HRH titles and the Sussex brand, the couple has now contracted with the New York-based Harry Walker firm to oversee their agenda.

Barack and Michelle Obama, as well as Hillary and Bill Clinton, are all managed by the same firm.

After resigning, the pair moved to Los Angeles, California, to prioritize their family and mental health above their previous professions.
