Mila Kunis is best known for her performance as Jackie Burkhart on That 70s Show when she was 14 years old. But it’s not well known that the actress has two different colored eyes, since she wasn’t born with this condition.Mila Kunis has heterochromia, a fascinating disorder that affects humans as well as certain dog and cat breeds. Her eyes are actually two distinct colours.

Kunis was blind in one eye for many years due to chronic iritis. The iris becomes inflamed as a result of the disorder. Kunis described how she overcame this adversity in a 2011 interview with Cosmopolitan. “I was blind in one eye for many years, and nobody knew. I’m not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there,” Kunis explained.

The color of the restored eye began to change after surgery. Kunis now has a brown and a green eye. Genetics or an eye damage can also cause this condition. Heterochromia is a disorder that can be caused by either heredity or an eye injury. This disorder affects just 1% of the population.

The Friends with Benefits actress never said how long she had the ailment, but in 2010 she had surgery to fix it. “I’m not blind anymore. I had surgery a couple of months ago. They cut it open and dropped a new lens in there,” she said.

Her blindness was caused by persistent iritis, which resulted in a cataract in that eye, obstructing her vision. Her vision was restored once the lens in the afflicted eye was replaced.

Kunis isn’t the only star who suffers from heterochromia, which affects only one percent of the population. Kunis told Direct Expose that her disease has had a significant impact on her life. “To say my life hasn’t changed would be a lie. It has changed, I don’t really know how. I can’t complain, not that I am complaining, but I can’t leave my house as freely as I used to,” she said.

Heterochromia of the eye can be full or sectoral, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Some other celebs suffer from the same problem. Kate Bosworth is one of the most well-known celebrities with two distinct eye colors. Director Bryan Singer advised her to remove her contact lenses and expose her natural eye color in Superman Returns.

Bosworth said the transition was a strange adjustment in an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald. “One of the first things I had to do when I got to Australia was a screen test for my eyes with the wig and the costume, just to see if Bryan wanted to keep them the way they are. And he decided that he wanted to,” Bosworth said. “So now the Lois Lane dolls have different colored eyes, which is strange.”
