During their interview on Thursday, Gerard Butler punched Good Morning Britain host Ross King.

But don’t worry, the two are good friends, and the ‘incident’ occurred during a hilarious interaction.

The reporter was interviewing the Scottish actor, who was one of his wedding’s best men, ahead of the premiere of his new film London Has Fallen.

“We’re both boys from Scotland – do you think, if it really came down to it, that you could take me in a fight?”  King enquired.

That was enough to prompt a swing from Butler, his face beaming with joy at the amusing situation.

“I know a lot of people have wanted me to do this for a long time,” Butler stated after ‘punching’ the presenter.

‘It hurt but it was especially for you Ben because I heard you saying there were a lot of people who wanted to do it – so there you go,’ Ross later told broadcasters Ben Shepherd and Susanna Reid.

King went on to say that he got his revenge on Butler on the red carpet at the premiere of London Has Fallen, making sweary hand motions at the Scottish action star.

Earlier in the interview, Butler discussed his dual responsibilities in London Has Fallen, in which he serves as both producer and leading man.

He confessed: “The producer thinks that the actor Gerry is pretty good, but not great… The actor thinks that the producer doesn’t know what’s going on.”

The film London Has Fallen will be released on Friday.

The film is a follow-up to Butler’s 2013 action smash Olympus Has Fallen, and it takes place in England’s capital.

When terrorists attack the city, killing the Prime Minister and numerous other international leaders, Butler’s heroic security guard is the only one who can rescue the US President.

Meanwhile, the actor is in the film Gods of Egypt, which has been criticized for ‘whitewashing’.
