There’s no disputing that Netflix is killing it with original content, especially with projects like The King coming out soon. Fans got their first look at the trailer yesterday, but in an unexpected turn of events, Robert Pattinson’s long hair in The King has become a huge talking point on Twitter.

Pattinson debuted a new hairstyle for his part, and fans are adoring his luscious long locks.

The teaser for the historical drama, which stars Chalamet as Henry V, the English monarch who reluctantly ascends to the throne upon his father’s death, has been published by Netflix. The film is based on William Shakespeare’s Henriad, a compilation of historical plays by the playwright.

Robert Pattinson plays the Dauphin of France in the film.

The 33-year-old actor is shown in the video donning armor and parting his wavy, shoulder-length hair in the middle. Pattinson’s role also looks to be a villain, since he is seen in the teaser saying, “A king has only followers and foe,” alongside Joel Edgerton’s John Falstaff.

Pattinson’s appearance was not unexpected, as Refinery29 points out, because his part was known before the trailer was released. But it was his hair that caught many fans by surprise, as he was spotted with blonde beach waves down to his shoulders instead of his typical short, untidy look. It doesn’t appear to be his real hair, as followers have observed that he’s “recently been photographed with short hair IRL”.

One wrote: ‘#RobertPattinson as Louis (The Dauphin of France) looks soooo damn IMPRESSIVE. REALLY GOD-TIER’, while another added: ‘You had me at Robert Pattinson’s lace front wig.’

The hair even made fans root for the bad guy: ‘If Robert Pattinson is playing the villain and he looks like that, then, I’m sorry, I’m rooting for the villain.’

Pattinson’s presence evoked strong feelings of nostalgia among Twilight fans on Twitter, and even overshadowed — albeit only slightly — Chalamet’s bowl cut. Despite the fact that Pattinson’s current character is not Edward Cullen, it transports fans back to his 2008 glory.

Pattinson’s long hair has been likened to actor Jackson Rathbone, who co-starred with Pattinson in the Twilight supernatural romance film trilogy.

On Tuesday, @AmyLStockwell tweeted, “Robert Pattinson really thinks he can come crawling back into my life after my twilight stage just cus he’s got a role with long hair? Correct come right in.”

Rathbone addressed the resemblance on Twitter, stating, “Bruh is jacking my style…”

Others stated that the mere fact that Pattinson and Chalamet co-star in a film is enough to get them to see it.

“[T]his specific group of plays is the closest thing you’ll see to Game of Thrones-turned-Shakespeare: i.e. a lot of blood, betrayal, and fancy robes.” Sign me up, please. And who knows, maybe this adaptation may encourage Netflix to produce more Shakespeare-inspired content for the platform.

Fans were also ecstatic to learn that Timothée Chalamet and R-Pattz would be appearing in the same film, implying that fawning levels would be off the charts.

“I will see The King for Timothée Chalamet’s bowl cut and Robert Pattinson’s wig alone,” one Twitter user on said on Wednesday. Another said, “Dear Netflix, release the character poster of Robert Pattinson with his long hair and watch the internet explode. #TheKing”

One twitter user said, “Timothée Chalamet with a bowl cut and English accent is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.” Even Vogue tweeted, “@RealChalamet is the ultimate Shakespearean thirst trap.”
