Malek and the cast and crew of “Bohemian Rhapsody” accepted the prize for best drama motion picture at the 76th Golden Globes in January. In the biopic, Malek played Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

The actor had a brief encounter with Kidman, who presented the prize, while maneuvering through the crowd on stage. During the brief encounter, Kidman appeared to be completely indifferent to Malek’s attempts to gain her attention.

During an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” a few days later, the “Mr. Robot” star rewatched the “very awkward” viral moment and stated, “I’ve known her for many years, despite as it may seem from that video.”

He said, “I have a feeling this is probably haunting me on the internet.”

Kidman told “Entertainment Tonight” backstage at the Critics’ Choice Awards that they’re “really good friends” and that she’s “mortified” by the blunder.

“I just did not feel his hand on my back.”

She continued: “[We were] both in a bit of a daze. He sent me an email. I sent him an email… we were laughing, actually.”

Kidman said that she “loves” the Bohemian Rhapsody” actor, adding, “He’s a darling.”

After Kidman had presented the cast and crew with the Best Film — Drama award, Malek attempted to greet her on stage.

Kidman turned her back on Malek, not realizing he was attempting to get her attention, and he stood awkwardly behind her.

Malek claims that the two are working on a spoof for a future ceremony, most likely the Oscars.

Speaking about the moment, he said, “I got up there, and I was in such a daze I don’t even know how I put together a collection of words that sounded coherent. So the fact that I knew Nicole [was there], I was like, ‘Oh, here’s a bit of safety.’ And then she just didn’t see me. It was as simple as that.”
