Heather Locklear, an actress, has been detained on suspicion of domestic violence and fighting with sheriff’s officers, according to police. The 56-year-old was arrested Sunday night, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office website.

According to The Blast, the incident started after police got a domestic violence complaint at 9:40 p.m., following which authorities went to her house in Thousand Oaks, California.

“Yesterday at about 10 p.m., our deputies responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence. When they arrived, Ms. Locklear was uncooperative with the deputies and actually battered three of our deputies. We initiated an investigation, which revealed that she had actually battered a boyfriend at the residence prior to our arrival. She was arrested for 1 count felony domestic violence and 3 counts misdemeanor battery on a police officer,” a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman told ET.

The spokesperson added, “[Locklear] had claimed that she was injured prior to our arrival, although we did not see any evidence of it. Out of an abundance for caution, she was transported to a local hospital where she was evaluated prior to being booked into jail. She posted $20,000 bail and was released.”

According to TMZ, the Melrose Place actress’ brother Mark arrived at her Thousand Oaks, California home to find her arguing with her lover.

The police were called before they “observed that the boyfriend had a visible mark”. Locklear fought back and assaulted three deputies when they tried to arrest her.

Locklear was arrested in 2008 on accusations of driving while intoxicated, and again in 2010 for a hit-and-run. According to ET, Locklear’s sister phoned 911 in January 2012 after the actress was allegedly using drugs and alcohol and was “out of control.” The actress has been in and out of rehab for years, according to the insider.

Sgt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office tells PEOPLE, “I don’t have any information as to whether or not alcohol was involved, but she was extremely uncooperative right off the bat. She became combative with the deputies to the point where she was arrested not only for felony domestic battery but three counts of battery on a police officer.”

The next court date for Locklear is March 13 in Ventura, California.

Locklear responded to allegations that she was in treatment for the fifth time in January.

“I am feeling great and am taking steps to enrich and better my life,” she said in a statement. “Currently I am working on tying up some loose ends regarding certain issues so I can hit 2017 full steam ahead.”

The actress is well known for her roles in television programs such as Melrose Place and Dynasty. She was once married to Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, but the couple separated after seven years.

She was also married to Richie Sambora, the drummer for Bon Jovi, for 13 years before the couple separated in 2017.
