Angelina Jolie admits that marriage and raising a family are “hard work,” but she and her husband Brad Pitt are committed to the task.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt married this past August after over ten years together, but the Unbroken director stated in a recent interview that life as a married couple isn’t always simple and bright.

Even when you’re betrothed to one of the world’s most attractive guys, marriage is difficult.

“[Brad and I] work really hard at nurturing our family to make sure that everybody is alright and everyone stays connected,” the actress-turned-director told Australian Women’s Weekly in the January issue. “Maintaining a marriage and raising kids is hard work. You have to really make sure that your work doesn’t get in the way. That you don’t do something that is going to put too much strain on your family.”

The ‘Maleficent’ star married Pitt, 51, in an intimate, private wedding at their Chateau Miraval estate, according to Us magazine.

They squeezed the wedding into their hectic schedules, just as she began marketing her sophomore directorial effort and he began pushing his new war movie Fury.

Jolie’s veil was embellished with drawings from her children, who all had a hand in the big day. “It was important to us that the day was relaxed and full of laughter,” the couple told Hello! Magazine. “It was such a special day to share with our children and a very happy time for our family.”

The actress and filmmaker says she’s “very happy to be married” and still enjoys calling Pitt her husband in an interview with Australian Women’s Weekly.

The two actors married in front of their six children after falling in love on the set of ‘Mr & Mrs Smith’ in 2005. Son Maddox, 13, son Pax, 11, daughter Zahara, nine, daughter Shiloh, nine, and twins Knox and Vivienne, six, are their children.

She also discussed her six children and their distinct characteristics.

“They’re six of the funniest people we have ever met in our lives. We love being home and we love being around them because they are just so entertaining,” she said in the interview.

Even with six children, the stars were open to adopting again. “There’s a really nice balance in the house right now,” Pitt told The Hollywood Reporter, “but if we see the need and get that lightning bolt that says, ‘We can help this person; we could do something here.’”

The couple became engaged in 2012, with Pitt telling The Hollywood Reporter that they wanted to wait until homosexual marriage was legalized throughout the world before holding a ceremony.“We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment,” he said. Pitt reportedly collaborated on an engagement ring with Robert Procop, who is also claimed to have created the wedding bands.

So there you have it: work-life balance is difficult to perfect even with all the money, ability, and excellent genes in the world.

While in Sydney, Australia, for the global premiere of her new film, “Unbroken,” which premieres on Christmas Day, Jolie chatted with The Weekly.

However, due to chicken pox, the filmmaker was unable to attend the film’s premiere in the United States. Jolie was substituted by Pitt and three of their children.
