Jason Momoa’s audition tape for “Game of Thrones” is a work of art.

It was first released to YouTube in 2012, but has now gained momentum, and it illustrates how he went all-out to land the job.

Momoa does not recite any words from the show in the footage, instead breaking out into a haka, which is a battle cry or dance of the Maori people of New Zealand.

The Maori song’s translated verse says “this is the hairy man,” which fits Momoa’s noticeable black chest hair.

It’s easy to see why he became the khal to Emilia Clarke’s khaleesi, Daenerys Targaryen, after watching his hair-flipping, wild-eyed performance.

Momoa was born in Hawaii, but he told New Zealand’s Stuff last year that he felt a connection to the Maori.

“We come from the same (Polynesian) culture,” he explained. “When I found out more about the Maori culture, I fell in love with it and with the people, too.”

Momoa wanted something dramatic and tempting to see in order to land the role of Khal Drogo, and haka suited the bill on both counts.

“It’s very, very powerful, and I wanted to capture that,” the actor told Stuff. “I just thought it was apt for the role because it’s beautiful and scary.”

Prior to his role in the blockbuster HBO show, the actor was best recognized for his role as Ronon Dex in Stargate: Atlantis.

It was recently reported that Jason would portray Aquaman in the next DC Comics film based on the iconic character.
