After the two were seen eating together in Beverly Hills in the summer of 2007, speculations began to circulate that Shia LaBeouf and Rihanna were dating.

Now, over two years after the rumors first surfaced, LaBeouf is finally speaking up about the date.

The 22-year-old said to Playboy that he asked the singer out in 2007 while filming Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

LaBeouf says: “[I was] filming a sword fight when I got the message. I said: ‘Can this be my life?'”

The two then texted each other to set up a date.

“It never got beyond one date,” he continues. “We weren’t passionate about each other in that way, so we remain friends.”

Even if he didn’t strike it rich with the sultry singer, LaBeouf can’t help but fantasize about a long list of Hollywood beauties.

“Ellen Page, Evan Rachel Wood, Camilla Belle, Kristen Stewart from ‘Twilight,’ ” he remarked. “The best of the bunch is Amber Tamblyn, from the ‘Sisterhood of Traveling Pants’ movies. She may be better than all the dudes.”

He also confessed that every woman he meets and dates will have to live up to his mother, whom he regards as the type of woman he would date if she wasn’t his mother. “Probably the sexiest woman I know is my mother. She’s an ethereal angel. Nobody looks like that woman,” he said. “If I could meet my mother and marry her, I would. I would be with my mother now, if she weren’t my mother, as sick as that sounds.”

“We were very smart,” he said, indicating an attraction between himself and Transformers co-star Megan Fox. “We’re attracted to each other, and I think you can see that in our scenes together.

“It’s very real and tangible, and you can tell something exists. We could be shooting, and the relationship is suddenly on the rocks and then what? So we just never did anything about it.”
